Message on the Occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Fitar by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
Message
“Holy Eid-ul-Fitar is the foremost religious festival of the Muslim Ummah. On this occasion, I extend my heartfelt greetings and Eid Mubarak to the Muslims of Bangladesh and around the world. I pray for the continued happiness, peace, prosperity, and well-being of the global Muslim community.
After a month of fasting and devotion, Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid-ul-Fitar as a token of gratitude to Allah upon the sighting of the Shawwal moon. On this day, the Muslim Ummah greets each other with joy. It marks the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan, during which Muslims observe fasting from dawn to dusk. The Eid-ul-Fitar festival emerges from the profound spiritual purification of Ramadan, bringing moments of joy and fulfillment. Eid carries the message of happiness, providing an opportunity to attain Allah’s pleasure and closeness. It fosters unity, brotherhood, and love, binding everyone together in a spirit of harmony. On this day, people come together in a spirit of closeness and joy, reinforcing their bonds of fraternity. Eid is a unique celebration where individuals unite in the joy of self-purification and brotherhood.
Therefore, on this sacred occasion, let us pledge to rise above all forms of hatred, envy, and conflict and work together to build an extraordinary society and nation founded on justice, equality, unity, brotherhood, kindness, compassion, humanity, and grand unity. After a decade and a half, this year’s Eid-ul-Fitar will be celebrated in a country free from fascism. Many families have lost their loved ones due to enforced disappearances, murders, and secret killings, while many others have suffered disabilities due to severe oppression and persecution. We must extend our deepest sympathy to those families and stand beside them. It is the responsibility of the privileged members of society to ensure that people from all classes can share in the joy of Eid. No helpless or underprivileged person should remain hungry—those who are well-off should extend a helping hand to ensure that the less fortunate can also partake in the joy of Eid.
On this holy day, may every household in Bangladesh be filled with peace and happiness. This is my prayer on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitar.
Allah Hafez, Bangladesh Zindabad.
