BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s Statement of Condemnation, Protest, and Mourning

On the evening of March 26, 2025, armed assailants brutally and mercilessly attacked and murdered Md. Nasir Uddin, the Organizational Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal—Sitakunda Upazila branch under Chattogram North District and the General Secretary of the 5 No. Barabkund Union branch. Expressing deep concern over this heinous killing carried out by miscreants, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has issued a statement of mourning and condemnation.

In a statement today, the BNP Secretary General said,
"After the fall of the authoritarian Awami regime due to the students’ and people’s movement, miscreants have once again become active in creating instability and chaos in the country to serve their malicious interests. The brutal and barbaric attack that led to the murder of Md. Nasir Uddin is a horrifying manifestation of this conspiracy. Moreover, such horrific incidents are being repeatedly orchestrated to put the current interim government in a difficult position. Therefore, there is no alternative to taking strict action against these miscreants. To protect democracy, ensure people’s right to vote, and safeguard the lives and properties of the nation’s citizens, people from all classes and professions must unite beyond political affiliations. Otherwise, the allies of the fascist Awami League, lurking in the shadows, will become desperate to endanger the very existence of the country.”

In his statement, the BNP Secretary General strongly urged the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of Md. Nasir Uddin. He also prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family.

Additionally, in a separate statement, Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal Central Committee President Krishibid Hasan Jafir Tuhin and General Secretary Shahidul Islam Babul condemned the murder of Md. Nasir Uddin, the Organizational Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal—Sitakunda Upazila branch under Chattogram North District and the General Secretary of the 5 No. Barabkund Union branch. They termed the incident as a cruel and cowardly act.

The leaders stated, “The remnants of the fallen Awami regime are still active. They are constantly engaged in criminal activities to create chaos in the country. However, to counter their conspiracies, everyone must stand united beyond party lines. Just as the people responded with an unyielding resistance during the historic mass uprising of July-August, they are now determined to thwart any conspiracy by the allies of the Awami regime. We demand the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the terrorists responsible for the murder of Md. Nasir Uddin. We also pray for the departed soul and express our deepest sympathies to the grieving family.”
