BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave the following message on the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of eminent politician KM Obaidur Rahman, former Secretary General of BNP.

"On the 18th death anniversary of BNP’s former Secretary General, one of the organizers of the Liberation War, a prominent student leader of the 1960s, and a distinguished politician of the country, KM Obaidur Rahman, I pay my deepest respect to his departed soul.  

Late KM Obaidur Rahman was widely admired as a nationally connected leader in Bangladesh. Through his capable leadership, he played a crucial role in organizing, strengthening, and energizing the party. From his student life to his national political career, he actively and courageously participated in all movements and struggles for self-determination, independence, and the protection of democracy. As a patriotic politician, he was always committed to democratic principles. A staunch advocate of multi-party democracy and a key organizer of the Liberation War, this esteemed politician will forever be remembered by the nation. I firmly believe that the path he followed will continue to inspire future generations.  

Embodying the nationalist ideology of the Proclaimer of Independence, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, and under the leadership of the people's leader, Begum Khaleda Zia, KM Obaidur Rahman made significant contributions to every movement and struggle for reclaiming democratic rights from the grip of autocracy. The party and the people of the country will always remember his contributions with deep reverence.
