Condemnation and Protest by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
The 8-year-old, a student of class 3, Asiya, who was the victim of a brutal rape in Magura on March 5, 2025, passed away today at 1:00 PM while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un. The death of Asiya has caused deep outrage, condemnation, and sorrow for BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
In a statement, BNP Secretary General expressed, “A horrific incident has recently occurred in Magura, where an eight-year-old child, Asiya, was raped. This tragic event has shaken us all. The Acting Chairman of BNP, Mr. Tarique Rahman, has consistently ensured that the victim, Asiya, received physical care, medical treatment, and legal assistance by appointing a lawyer. The rate of rape has alarmingly increased across the country, with such incidents occurring regularly in various regions, many of which are not reported due to fear or concerns about social reputation. Women of all ages are becoming victims, and even children are not spared. Due to the lack of authority in the administration, incidents of rape continue to rise, and this is damaging our country’s reputation.
During the one-sided election of the Awami government in 2018, an incident occurred in Subarnachar, where a BNP-supported housewife, Parul Begum, was raped in front of her children by Awami terrorists simply because she voted for the symbol of the ‘paddy sheaf.’ This is a continuation of the unethical governance of the fascist government. Therefore, it is essential to break this cycle and bring the state to a moral stance. A law for public punishment for rapists must be passed in a legitimate parliament. The law and order situation in the country today is deeply concerning, and the cases of violence against women and children are alarming for the nation. Ensuring the safety of every citizen is the responsibility of the state. I call on the government and the administration to take immediate action against such crimes and ensure exemplary punishment for the perpetrators, creating a safe environment for children.
What is happening in our country today is unacceptable. Women and children are the victims in this era of social instability. I strongly demand the security of women and children.”
In his condolence message, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir prayed for the eternal peace of Asiya's soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, well-wishers, and supporters.
