Statement by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
The Secretary General of the BNP, issued a statement from London at 3:30 PM Bangladesh time on Sunday, December 1, 2024. In the statement, he expressed relief over the acquittal of Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairman of the BNP, and all other accused in the August 21 case by the High Court.
He thanked Almighty Allah and welcomed the verdict announced by the High Court bench, composed of Justice A.K.M. Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayetur Rahim, which overturned the judgment of the trial court. Mirza Fakhrul stated that this decision proved the Awami League government’s politically motivated intent to implicate Tarique Rahman in the case.
The BNP Secretary General emphasized that Tarique Rahman legally defended himself against the allegations and was acquitted by the High Court. This historic judgment confirmed that all charges against Tarique Rahman were part of a political conspiracy.
In the statement, Secretary General thanked to Allah and called upon the party leaders and activists across the country for pray to Allah.
