Message from Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of BNP, on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
"On the occasion of the Great National Revolution and Solidarity Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the people of Bangladesh. I wish for their happiness, peace, and prosperity.
On November 7, 1975, through the historic revolution of the soldiers and the people, our homeland achieved true independence, and the path for multi-party democracy was set in motion. The evil designs of imperialist forces were defeated by the awakened national consciousness of the people of this land. On this day in 1975, after overcoming uncertainty and fear, the brave soldiers and people of the country stood up, inspired by the spirit of independence, and thwarted the foreign powers' conspiracies. Through their collective efforts, the people rose with renewed determination. The success of the revolution on November 7 paved the way for multi-party democracy and economic freedom. The rule of law, freedom of speech, individual rights, and the freedom of the press were restored.
On this day, the spontaneous revolution of the soldiers and people unfolded against deep-rooted conspiracies and anti-independence forces. It was on November 7 that Ziaur Rahman was freed from captivity. The military and the common people, supporting him, took to the streets. The nation found in him a capable leader, Ziaur Rahman, who, in 1971, during the most critical moments of the nation, had declared the independence of Bangladesh and provided the direction for the nation to plunge into the Liberation War. Ziaur Rahman, as a successful statesman, nurtured the rise of nationalist politics and led the nation onto the road of development, progress, and prosperity. This is why the significance of this revolution in our national life is immeasurable.
On this great day, I urge the people of the country to recognize that the final completion of our democratic system is still pending. We must ensure free and fair elections, promote democratic values in every sector of the state, and protect civil liberties. Although after August 5, the people of the country have been able to breathe a sigh of relief, much work still remains. National and international conspiracies continue. There are always evil forces at work, trying to subjugate the state of Bangladesh. Therefore, inspired by the same spirit that united us on November 7, 1975, to defend our independence and sovereignty, we must unite once again to ensure multi-party democracy, achieve the benefits of independence, and establish economic freedom, peace, discipline, equality, justice, and human dignity.
Allah Hafez, Bangladesh Zindabad"
