Condolence Message of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman
BFUJ President and Senior Journalist Ruhul Amin Gazi passed away today while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un). BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed deep sorrow and grief over his passing.
In a condolence message today, the Acting Chairman of BNP said, "Ruhul Amin Gazi played a commendable and courageous role in ensuring freedom of expression. Believing in independent journalism, the late Ruhul Amin Gazi worked tirelessly with the noble commitment to objective journalism, and I firmly believe that his fellow journalists will always follow his example with respect. Despite enduring imprisonment and persecution, his brave stance in favor of the freedom of speech, expression, and opinion was widely appreciated by the people of the country. Even after repeatedly facing political repression, Ruhul Amin Gazi never hesitated to play a leading role in supporting democracy. He remained steadfast in his duties despite facing threats from anti-democratic forces throughout his career. His contributions to the world of journalism are undoubtedly undeniable. His death has left a deep wound in the hearts of democracy-loving people. His absence will not be easily filled. I pray to the Almighty Allah for his eternal peace in Jannah."
In his message of condolence, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman prayed for the forgiveness of Ruhul Amin Gazi’s departed soul and extended his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, relatives, admirers, and well-wishers.
