Statement of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep concern over the violent clashes in Khagrachari and Rangamati, where, according to reports, 4 people have been killed, around 70 seriously injured, and shops and homes have been vandalized and set on fire by miscreants.

In a statement today, the BNP Secretary General said, “Although the fascist Awami government has fallen due to the student-popular movement, accomplices of the defeated forces are still engaged in creating chaos in the country. They have resorted to deep conspiracies. These conspirators are unable to accept the historic victory of the student-popular movement and are now indulging in violence across the country to destabilize the current interim government. Although the people have been freed from the horrific misrule of the fascist Awami regime, the country is not yet entirely safe. Miscreants are desperate to destabilize the nation. This is why the people are being brutally attacked, with some even being killed and others gravely injured. The tragic incidents of violence and casualties in Khagrachari and Rangamati are a cruel manifestation of this. These terrorists must be suppressed with a firm hand; there is no alternative. Everyone, regardless of political affiliation, must stay alert so that the conspirators cannot benefit from these violent acts and bloodshed. Only then can true democracy, good governance, and the safety of people’s lives and property be ensured in the country.”

In his statement, the BNP Secretary General called for the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the miscreants responsible for the attacks on the people of Khagrachari and Rangamati. He offered his prayers for the souls of the deceased, extended his condolences to their families, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
