Statement of BNP Acting Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman on the 48th Death Anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Message:
"On the death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, I pay deep respects to him and pray for the forgiveness of his soul. Kazi Nazrul Islam, one of the most vibrant figures in Bengali literature, was a poet of humanity and equality. Through his sharp writings, he protested against all forms of injustice, oppression, and tyranny. He was the leading poet and musician of the Bengali language in the 20th century. Despite his contributions to various branches of literature, his primary identity remains as a poet. He inspired the oppressed to rebel against the oppressors. As a poet of love, revolt, equality, and awakening, his poems and songs have motivated the nation in its struggle against exploitation and deprivation. His works were a source of inspiration during the Liberation War. Nazrul’s poetry, songs, and literary works ignited a renaissance in Bengali literature. He was a pioneer of secular consciousness, and his writings played a significant role in fostering secular values in our national life. His poems and songs continue to guide people toward liberation from exploitation and deprivation across generations. His uncompromising struggle against oppression earned him the title of the 'Rebel Poet.'
Kazi Nazrul Islam stands as an unparalleled example of love for humanity. His writings inspire us to dedicate ourselves to the welfare of people with love. I believe that his literary works will continue to inspire us with patriotism for eternity.
