On the occasion of Janmashtami, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave the following message:—
Message
"On this auspicious day of Janmashtami, I extend my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all followers of the Hindu faith. I wish them continued good health and prosperity.
Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, revered by the Hindu community, is one of the most important religious festivals. The core message of all religious festivals is love, harmony, and goodwill among people. Throughout all ages, the founders of various religions have advised people to stay away from falsehood, injustice, and wrongdoing. They have conveyed the message of truth and justice to people, overcoming all adversities. Lord Krishna also appeared on Earth with the same purpose, overcoming the injustice prevailing in society and establishing peace and welfare. According to followers of the Sanatan Dharma, when wickedness and immorality increase, Lord Krishna incarnates to eradicate evildoers.
The foundation of society and culture in Bangladesh is religious harmony. In Bangladesh, the friendly relations among people of all religions have been established on a strong foundation since time immemorial. We believe in equal rights for people of all faiths. To make society peaceful by eliminating hatred, animosity, unrest, conflict, discrimination, and injustice, we must all contribute from our respective positions.
On this auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, I wish everyone happiness, peace, and well-being."
