Condolence Message of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
Brave freedom fighter of 1971, member of BNP's National Executive Committee, and Convener of the Jatiotabadi Matsyajeebi Dal, Alhaj Rafiqul Islam Mahtab, passed away last night. He was 77 years old. We express our deep sorrow and condolences over his death.
In a condolence message, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated: "I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of Alhaj Rafiqul Islam Mahtab. Inspired by the ideals of the Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, he embraced the philosophy of Bangladeshi nationalism and diligently served at various levels within BNP and the Jatiotabadi Matsyajeebi Dal. His demise is a great loss to the Jatiotabadi Matsyajeebi Dal, as we have lost a capable leader. His active participation in the democratic movement under the leadership of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was commendable. His valor in the liberation war of 1971 will remain cherished by the nation. I pray that the Almighty grants him a place in Jannah and provides patience to the grieving family."
The BNP Secretary General also prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and extended his deepest sympathy to the mourning family, admirers, and well-wishers.
