Press Release

Refutation of Published Report

During the visit of U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, journalists from the Prothom Alo newspaper and Independent TV channel, citing the BNP, asked him a question that is completely false, misleading, and baseless. Such an unfounded question was posed with the intent of disparaging the BNP. The question suggested that “the opposition BNP in Bangladesh claims that, influenced by Indian mediationm the US has softened its stance on the 12th parliamentary election.” No BNP leader at any level has ever made such a comment or statement. Publishing such fabricated remarks leads to significant misunderstandings. Asking such unrealistic questions tarnishes the reputation of the esteemed news organizations like Prothom Alo and Independent TV, where these journalists work.

Currently, the people of the country are being crushed under severe misgovernance. The leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are risking their lives, enduring imprisonment, oppression, and torture to fight for the rights of the people. The BNP is steadfast in its commitment to the independence and sovereignty of the country, the rights of the people, freedom of expression, and the establishment of justice. The misleading question attributed to the BNP is inappropriate and creates confusion among the public. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) strongly protests the aforementioned false and fabricated statement.
