BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi strongly condemned and protested
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed deep concern over the arrest of BNP National Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury by the Intelligence Police from a house in Gulshan last night at 1 am.
In a statement today, the senior joint secretary general of BNP said, "By unilaterally holding the 12th National Assembly elections, the Awami government has started the steps to usurp state power again. In order to achieve this nefarious purpose, they have joined the abominable game of imprisoning the top leaders of BNP. BNP is leadershipless. The fascist ruling group has been arresting the national leaders of BNP continuously. Not only that, the arrested senior leaders of BNP have been remanded for 8/10 days and tortured unspeakably through the government courts.
The present ruling group has lost its sense of purpose because it is scared of the ongoing blockade program led by the BNP. The government is thinking that BNP's movement will come to a standstill if this arrest, remand and torture are carried out. But I want to say for the government - BNP is the largest and most popular political party in the country, the people are with this party, so no strategy of the government to suppress the movement will succeed. The leadership of BNP cannot be weakened either. The last BNP person who stay out of jail will lead the movement. The people are determined to implement the non-partisan neutral government system during the elections, including the resignation of the government through the movement. And soon this illegal government will fall."
Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP immediately called for the unconditional release of Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
