BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam's statement

Strongly condemn and protest the arrest of Dr. Zahidul Kabir, former president of Jatiyatavadi Chhatra Dal Dhaka Dental College, member of DAB central committee and vice president of Jatiyatavadi Svechasevak Dal central committee, and demand his immediate and unconditional release. This morning, law enforcement officers in white clothes arrested from Kakrail intersection. Just because of different political philosophies, arrests are being made without any crime and they are being framed in absentee cases. A few days ago, the target killing of two doctors in Rajshahi and Comilla, the law enforcement forces picked up the doctor from his home in Sirajganj or from the chamber in Dhaka while he was visiting the patient, is based on the same sources. Such activities are happening one after another as this fascist government prolongs its power against the will of the people.

The silence of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) against such harassment of doctors is part of the under government's part .

Acceptance of such harassment of professionals at work and at home in an independent state bears testimony to the ineffectiveness of the state apparatus, a flagrant violation of constitutional civil rights and is contrary to the spirit of the liberation war. We demand the immediate release of the arrested doctor and the withdrawal of the false case filed in his name. In the future, if doctors and other professionals are harassed in this way, a big movement will be formed with everyone.
