Condemnation and protest of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

At least 30 people were injured and the police attacked the leaders and activists while entering the building including the owner of the building put a strong lock on the central office of the People's Rights Council led by Nurul Haque Nuru. Leaders including Nurul Haque Noor injured in police lathi charge are undergoing treatment at Islami Bank Hospital in Kakrail. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condemned and protested expressing deep concern over such a shameful incident.

In a statement today, BNP General Secretary said, “After the December 30th midnight mass vote robbery election, the misrule of the present government has taken a more terrible form. The government has now entered the field to rid the country of opposition parties. And that is why opposition party leaders and activists are persecuting the protesting people and spreading fear throughout the country, so that no one dares to criticize the misrule of the government. In the case of police attacking the leaders and activists of the People's Rights Parishad and injuring at least 30 leaders and activists while entering the building, along with the owner of the building being locked by the owner of the central office of the People's Rights Council led by Nurul Haque Nuru, it has been proved once again that the cruel one-party state without opposition in the current authoritarian country is determined to remain forever. But their wish will never be fulfilled. The people of Bangladesh are democracy-loving people, they will never allow the traditions of many opinions, ways and beliefs to be destroyed.

I strongly condemn and protest the cowardly incident of police attack including locking the central office of Nurul Haque Nuru. Wishing speedy recovery to the injured leaders.”
