Condemnation and protest of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned and protested the arrest of Md. Ataur Rahman, convener of Gazipur Mahanagar Krishakdal in a false and fabricated case.
BNP Secretary General said in a statement today, "When the people of the country are disoriented by the terrible misrule of the illegal government, the young leaders are being selectively arrested and the level of torture has been increased. Blacknight's government has understood that the people want their resignation now. Wherever the BNP is holding a rally, there is a massive influx of common people. The fear that the downfall of the government is approaching has led to inhumane arrests and torture before the holy Eid-ul-Azha. They are oppressing the opposition party leaders and ordinary people by using the law and order forces. It seems that the country is now the ancestral property of Awami League. The present ruling group is engaged in a deep conspiracy to prolong their monopolistic rule by denigrating the country as an opposition party. BNP is the most popular and largest political party in the country, and in order to destroy this party and establish a one-man rule in the country, continuous efforts are being made to implement the goal by imprisoning the leaders and activists of BNP and its organs and affiliated organizations at all levels. The authoritarian government is now convinced that their time is up, and that is why they are now desperate to kill the leaders and activists of the opposition parties, including the BNP. Md. Ataur Rahman has been unjustly arrested as a victim of political revenge. However, as the violence of the Awami government without voters on the BNP leaders and activists increases, the speed of the protest storm will intensify. I want to say in clear words—stop persecution—resign immediately in the interest of the country, hand over power to a non-partisan neutral government.”
BNP Secretary General in a statement called for immediate withdrawal of the false case filed against the arrested Md. Ataur Rahman and his unconditional release.
In a separate statement, Jatiotabadi Krishak Dal central parliament president, Agriculturist Hasan Jafir Tuhin and general secretary Shahidul Islam Babul expressed deep concern and protest over the arrest of Gazipur Metropolitan Krishak Dal convener Md. Ataur Rahman in a false case. In the statement, the leaders said that the current illegal government of Awami has become desperate to arrest the leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates across the country as part of repression, thinking that their downfall is certain. The arrest of Md. Ataur Rahman, convener of Gazipur Mahanagar Krishakdal, is a continuation of that. But the government will not be able to prevent their downfall by doing such misdeeds. In the statement, the two leaders strongly demanded the withdrawal of the false case filed against Md. Ataur Rahman and his immediate unconditional release.
