Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said party's Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia will be taken abroad soon for her better treatment.

He was addressing a milad and doa mahfil organised at the ground floor of BNP's Nayapaltan office here.

The mahfil was organized marking the 80th birthday of Begum Khaleda Zia seeking her long life and recovery from her illness and eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs in the recent student-people movement and recovery of injured people.

Fakhrul hoped that the party chief will return to them with sound health with the blessings of the Almighty Allah. "Pray for madam (Khaleda Zia)," he said.

"We are now in uncertainty. Sheikh Hasina can hatch any sort of conspiracy staying in India. Recently Sheikh Hasina wanted to make a plot involving the minorities but failed to do so. The people unitedly resisted it," BNP secretary general said.

About the security of the minorities, he said "peace brigade" should be formed in each area so that miscreants cannot create any disorder.

He urged the party men for ensuring security at mosques, temples as well as business institutions of minorities.

"We will have to take forward the country at the directives of our leader (netri). We have defeated a fascist. We will have to remain alert so that no neo-fascist can emerge again," he said.

Noting that the interim government is a new one, Fakhrul said some rubbish were generated in the country which should be cleaned up for the sake of holding a free and fair election.

"We all have to remain patient till that time," he said urging all to work together without being engaged in any conflict.

Moderated by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, the doa mahfil was attended, among others, by its Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Vice-Chairmen Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Ahmed Azam Khan, Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, Chairperson's Adviser Abdus Salam, BNP Joint Secretaries General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel and Abdus Salam Azad, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Voluntary Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu and Labour Party Chairman Mustafizur Rahman.
