The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party announced to observe dawn to dusk hartal(strike) across Bangladesh on Sunday after they were forced to call off their Saturday’s grand rally amid attacks from police and supporters of the ruling Awami League. 

The resulting clashes near the venue of the opposition in the city’s Naya Paltan area left at the BNP’s youth wing, Juba Dal leader killed and injured scores

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme during its rally in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan on Saturday.The BNP leader said the hartal came in response to an attack on its party headquarters in Naya Paltan, gunfire, and the unjust use of tear gas surrounding the rally.
