Message from BNP Acting Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman on the Birth and Death Anniversary of Begum Rokeya

Message:
"On the occasion of the birth and death anniversary of Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, I pay deep respect to her memory and pray for the forgiveness of her departed soul.
Growing up in a strictly conservative family environment, Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain emerged as the pioneer of women’s awakening in this country. Through her life experiences, she deeply realized the marginalized position of women in society. She recognized that education was the key to establishing women’s self-respect and dignity. The central aim of her life's struggle was the liberation of women through the expansion of education. She took the first initiative to illuminate the lives of the underprivileged Muslim women of this country with the light of education.
In spreading the message of women's liberation, she faced severe opposition from the rigid conservatives of society. Despite this, she remained steadfast and indomitable in her duties. Through her sharp and impactful writing, Begum Rokeya challenged the injustices and discriminatory practices against women. She strongly inspired women to achieve self-reliance and self-respect in the spheres of family, society, and economy. To achieve this, she believed in equipping women with proper education. She established a social movement to empower women, overcoming countless obstacles of bigotry.
I firmly believe that Begum Rokeya’s life and ideals will continue to inspire and energize women to strive for greater achievements.
Allah Hafez, Bangladesh Zindabad."
