Condemnation and protest of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned and protested against the unjust arrest of Joint convener of Bhasani Anusari Parishad and Principal of Rajshahi Evergreen Degree Model College Dr. Abu Yusuf Salim on July 29, 2023, from the sit-in program.

In a statement today, BNP Secretary General said, "After suppressing democracy, the current authoritarian illegal government has resorted to reckless oppression of opposition parties and people of opinion, including BNP, to plunge the country into the darkness of one-party misrule. As part of the ongoing anti-government movement, the wrongful arrest of Dr. Abu Yusuf Salim is a continuation of that oppression. Dr. Abu Yusuf Salim is currently very ill in prison but is being denied proper medical treatment.

The fascist Awami government is trampling on the democratic rights of opposition parties and people of opinion by adopting cruel repression policies. The sign of humanity and civilization in the country is continuously being erased because democracy is pointless. Government-backed law enforcement agencies are now rampant in suppressing the opposition. The only purpose of maintaining fear and apprehension in the country is that no one dares to protest against the illegal and arbitrary rule of the fascist Awami government. However, despite hundreds of oppressions, the people have started taking to the streets to overthrow the current illegal regime and get rid of the terrible misrule. People will win."

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called for the withdrawal of the false case filed against Abu Yusuf Salim and his unconditional release.
