BNP Chairman and Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the Army Headquarters Selection Board 2026 of the Bangladesh Army.

The inauguration took place this morning, Sunday (26 July 2026), at Army Headquarters in Dhaka, where the Prime Minister attended as the Chief Guest and delivered a keynote address.

In his speech, the Honourable Prime Minister paid profound tribute to the Proclaimer of Independence and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman for his outstanding contributions to the modernisation and restructuring of the Bangladesh Army. He also paid deep respect to the martyrs of the Liberation War, war-wounded freedom fighters, members of the Armed Forces, and Army personnel who embraced martyrdom while serving in the Chattogram Hill Tracts.

The Prime Minister stated that, in order to build a professional, competent, and modern army, promotions must be based solely on merit, professional competence, integrity, moral character, leadership qualities, and discipline, above all personal preferences or political considerations.

He further said that the Bangladesh Army continues to play a vital role in safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty, ensuring national security, maintaining internal peace and order, responding to natural disasters, and supporting the civil administration. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff and all members of the Bangladesh Army for their dedicated service.

Upon his arrival at Army Headquarters, the Prime Minister was welcomed by the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of General Staff (CGS). The Army Chief expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for inaugurating the Army Headquarters Selection Board 2026.

Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister participated in a group photo session with Army officers and signed the Visitors' Book at Army Headquarters.
