A high-level meeting, chaired by BNP Chairperson and Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman, was held to discuss the implementation strategy and nationwide expansion of the Family Card distribution programme.

The meeting took place today, Monday, 20 July 2026, at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The participants reviewed the progress of the Family Card programme—one of the key commitments made in the BNP's election manifesto—and discussed in detail the roadmap for its phased expansion across the country.

The Honourable Prime Minister emphasised the importance of formulating a practical implementation plan for the gradual nationwide rollout of the programme, making the best use of modern technology, and ensuring effective coordination among all relevant ministries and agencies.


He stated that establishing a reliable and integrated database is essential to ensure that the benefits of the Family Card programme reach genuine beneficiaries in an effective, transparent, and accurate manner. To this end, he instructed the relevant authorities to ensure the highest standards of transparency and accountability at every stage of data collection, verification, and beneficiary selection.

Among those present at the meeting were Minister for Social Welfare Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Adviser to the Honourable Prime Minister Mahdi Amin, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister A.B.M. Abdus Sattar, Chief Coordinator for SDG Affairs at the Prime Minister's Office Professor Dr. S.M. Abdul Awal, Special Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee Belayet Hossain Mridha, as well as senior officials from the relevant ministries and government agencies.
