Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman participated in a clothing and dry food distribution program for underprivileged and disadvantaged people at 16 locations across the two city corporations of the capital on the occasion of the 45th Martyrdom Anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the distribution program on Saturday morning from the T&T High School ground on Manik Mia Avenue.

He subsequently distributed food items among underprivileged people at various locations in Dhaka North and South City Corporations, including Shyamoli Square, Government Bangla College area, Pallabi Metro Station, ECB Chattar, Kuril Bishwa Road, Fuji Trade Center, Jor Pukur Playground, Banglabazar, Jatrabari, Jurain, and Dhanmondi.

According to his Press Wing, the Prime Minister concluded the day's activities by distributing clothing among disadvantaged people in the Dhanmondi area in the afternoon before returning to his residence.

Earlier, he attended separate programs organized by BNP’s associate and affiliated organizations in front of the party’s central office at Naya Paltan, where he also distributed food supplies and clothing among the underprivileged.

As part of the observance of the 45th Martyrdom Anniversary, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute to former President Ziaur Rahman by placing a floral wreath at his grave in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11:00 a.m. He later paid further respects to the party’s founder alongside members of the BNP Standing Committee and other senior party leaders.

In the evening, a Milad Mahfil was held at his residence on Gulshan Avenue. Family members, relatives, and close friends of the Prime Minister attended the gathering.

Among those present were Begum Khaleda Zia’s younger brother Shamim Eskander, her middle sister Selima Islam, and other members of the family.

The Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, stated that a Milad and prayer gathering was organized at the Prime Minister’s residence seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for the soul of former President Ziaur Rahman. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, members of his family, relatives, and close associates participated in the event.

Officials of the Prime Minister’s Office, members of the Special Security Force (SSF), and the President Guard Regiment (PGR) also attended the Milad Mahfil.
